The solid Meran formation that black can adopt is a tough nut to crack but Delchev proposes the 9.Rg1!? idea to be followed by a kingside pawn storm. Black played 10...Qe7, a move not mentioned by Delchev, in the feature game but eventually lost.

The loss however, was not related to the opening.
