Verifying Attacking Manual 2

Attacking Manual 2-Aagaard(Quality Chess 2010)
The feature game is one of the examples from Ch2-Typical Piece Play. Aagaard now analyzes the attack deeply and I was anxious to verify his variations and conclusions.

The game started off as a Scandinavian but transposed to a typical attacking position from the Semi-Tarrasch with the hanging c,d pawn duo.(diagram)

White then started aggressive piece play with 19.Ng5.

16...Kg7

More on the Semi-Tarrasch

Here is the game.

Semi-Tarrasch via Scandinavian[D42]
Genova Ducale op Genova (4), 24.09.2003

Position 1
White has given up a pawn for a quick kingside strike. What do you recommend for white?

White to Play
18...ed

Position 2
Here I managed to find something not mentioned by Aagaard. The initial attacking phase is over.

How should black escape the check?

Black to Play
